Dance

Course Breakdown: 8 months (2 terms)Limited to 15 students per class

TAP

Age: 7 to 14 years

Students will work on basic tap technique, rhythm and musicality, and further develop more complex steps. We focus on technique in the first semester, and work on choreography in the second semester.


JAZZ

1: Beginner

1.5: Intermediate

2: Advanced

Students will learn and develop basic jazz technique through warm-up, exercises, and choreography throughout the first semester. Students will be divided by ability not necessarily by age.


ACRO

Age 8-14 years

This is new for us this year! Acro is a combination of gymnastics skills, flexibility, strength, and choreography. Students will learn basic acro skills, while developing flexibility and strength.


BALLET

1: 4-6 years old

1.5: Beginner/Intermediate

2: Intermediate/Advanced

Students will learn and develop basic ballet technique through exercises, barre work, and center work throughout the first semester. Students in Ballet 1.5 and 2 will be divided by ability not necessarily by age.


HIP HOP

1: Beginner

2: Intermediate/Advanced

Students will learn and develop basic hip hop technique through warm-up, exercises, and choreography throughout the first semester. Students will be divided by ability not necessarily by age.


CONTEMPORARY

Advanced

Students will learn and develop basic ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance technique through warm-up, exercises, and choreography throughout the first semester. This class is for advanced dancers who have had previous training in either ballet or jazz dance.

All students are expected to wear proper dance
attire to each class.
Warm up clothing may be worn,but must
be removed after warm up.

Fall Term (September to December)

TRAINING PHASE
approx. 14 weeks

The emphasis in this term is on “process” rather than “product”.

Spring Term (January to April)

PERFORMANCE PHASE (rehearsal process)

The emphasis in this term is on the final product of the year end show.
